YES. The new shift model.

I’ve been working at CHT Germany GmbH for 3 years. When I started in 2017 we had a 3-shift system with 9 employees per shift. Now the company has added additional shifts with 9 employees per shift. That’s because, among other reasons, the production numbers keep rising. The new system has a lot of advantages for workers but there are also points that some of my coworkers don’t view quite as positively.

The advantages of additional shifts

The new shift model has significant advantages in my view. I hope to rise up through the ranks in the company in the future. Because the new shift model opened up new positions, that means it might be easier for me to realize my career goals more quickly.

Working on weekends – always a disadvantage?

Now that we've introduced the new shift system, we're working around the clock 7 days a week (including every weekend) for the first time. Many of my colleagues saw that as a challenge at first, as they weren't familiar with it. However, the main advantages for me personally are the higher salary, days off during the work week and even a few long weekends now and then. In addition, in the new shift system means it’s easier to work a wider variety of shifts, which is more pleasant for me than it used to be, especially when it comes to the new night shift policy. If the shift model were to be increased again in the future, I’d definitely be in favor of it.
