YES. We speak the same language.

Eu estou aprendendo o português brasilieiro para melhorar o comunicação com colegas e clientes no Brasil. What that means: I am studying Brazilian Portuguese in order to communicate better with my colleagues and customers in Brazil.

Communication for better teamwork.

Because of my responsibility for Brazil within my department, I was given the opportunity through CHT about a year ago to begin a language course in Portuguese. In certain regions in Brazil, it is very difficult or even impossible to use English as a means of communication. Thus, learning the national language is highly beneficial when it comes to technical support. My language course is conducted as one-on-one tutoring, allowing for the learning process to be personalised – and providing plenty of time to really practice speaking.

Successful and enjoyable learning.

Learning this new language is a lot of fun – which I also attribute to my teacher, who is really fantastic. The customised language training helped me progress quickly and enabled me to write my first basic emails in Portuguese. Meanwhile, I’ve also had a digital meeting with my Brazilian colleagues; we were able to conduct the meeting in Portuguese and only switched to English if something was unclear. I really look forward to applying my language skills directly on-site with my customers during my next trip after the pandemic.
